we love...

The scale of the on site accommodation. With space for much of the guest list to stay together, the château quickly begins to feel like your own private estate for the weekend.

What's so special about Château de Garde?

Château de Garde | A Vineyard Estate in the Heart of Bordeaux

Arriving at Château de Garde, the landscape quickly begins to set the tone. Vineyards stretch across the surrounding countryside, the light warm and unhurried in that unmistakable Bordeaux way. The château sits comfortably within it all – elegant but relaxed, surrounded by open views and the quiet rhythm of the vineyard landscape.

Weddings here feel relaxed and easy from the start. Ceremonies can unfold in the gardens with the vineyard landscape as a backdrop, before guests drift into aperitifs and dinner as the evening light settles across the estate. Celebrations of between 30 and 120 guests sit naturally within the château’s spaces, whether that means long tables outdoors in summer or candlelit receptions inside as the night draws in.

One of the most memorable corners of the estate is the patio – framed by four tall palm trees, a central fountain and a striking black and white chequered floor. It has a slightly unexpected feel for Bordeaux, almost Mediterranean in mood, and makes a beautiful setting for drinks, dinner or dancing beneath the evening sky.

Accommodation is generous for a private estate. Thirty six guests can stay on site, with space for a further fourteen for an additional fee, allowing a large part of the guest list to remain together throughout the celebration. It quickly begins to feel less like a venue and more like a private home for the weekend – breakfasts stretching late into the morning, guests wandering through the grounds and that lovely sense of having nowhere else to be.

Catering and suppliers are flexible, giving couples the freedom to create the kind of celebration they imagine, whether that leans towards an elegant dinner showcasing regional produce or something more relaxed and informal. If the weather turns, the château’s interiors offer a seamless continuation without losing the atmosphere of the day.

For guests travelling from the UK, the journey is refreshingly simple. Bordeaux Airport is just 38 minutes away by car, while Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport is a little over an hour away – making a destination wedding in the French countryside feel wonderfully accessible.

Château de Garde feels warm, atmospheric and unmistakably French. It suits couples who want the romance of a vineyard setting while gathering their favourite people for a celebration that unfolds slowly across an entire weekend.

Nearest Airports: Bordeaux Airport (BOD) just 38 min (47.9 km) away and Bergerac Dordogne Périgord (EGC, LFBE) Airport 1 hr 6 min (62.4 km) away.

Transportation

Big cities such as Paris have a metro but most locations have cheap and accessible public transport, such as trains and buses. Taxis are easy to find or call – available taxis are often indicated by a blue or white light.

Public Holidays

The French treat Christmas, Easter and New Year as serious holidays, as well as VE Day (8th May), Bastille Day (14th July), Armistice Day (11th November) and various saints days (e.g. All Saints' Day on 1st November).

Good Time to Go

Late May - Early October

good to know

If you're flexible with your Wedding date, late Spring (April/May) & early Autumn (Oct), just outside of High Season can be slightly cheaper when booking a venue. You will find late June & September dates book up quickly - these are the preferred months to celebrate a wedding in France.

What Couples Say

“We booked Château de Garde for our wedding on the 20.8.25. From the moment we enquired about booking here, Muriel was so helpful and friendly. We travelled from Ireland to France to view the venue and we fell in love with Château de Garde! It is a beautiful venue. We are Irish and all correspondence was through email and any questions we had both Muriel and Léa were so helpful! We booked the venue for three days and our guests loved everything Château de Garde offers. We cannot thank Château de Garde enough!! We had the most special and memorable day!”

What Couples Say

“We celebrated our wedding at Château de Garde in July 2025, and it was absolutely perfect. The château, nestled among the vineyards, is magnificent and perfectly embodies the French charm we wanted to share with our guests from France and abroad. Elegant, refined, authentic, and welcoming… the setting is magical without ever being ostentatious. The rooms and common areas are decorated with exquisite taste, and the perfectly maintained grounds add a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. The team is also extraordinary; a huge thank you to Léa, our wedding planner, who orchestrated every detail with such professionalism and attention that we were able to experience a dream day and enjoy every moment with complete peace of mind. We wholeheartedly recommend it!”
