What's so special about Hotel Castell Empordà?
Castell d’Empordà | A Storybook Hilltop Castle in the Empordà Countryside
Set high on a hill in the heart of the Empordà region, Castell d’Empordà is the kind of place you stumble upon once and never quite forget. A medieval castle turned design-led boutique hotel, it blends old-world romance with contemporary cool – all surrounded by rolling Catalan countryside and those endless, hazy Costa Brava skies.
Weddings here feel like they unfold in chapters. Sun-drenched terraces for vows, leafy courtyards for cocktails, candlelit dinners in historic stone spaces, and views that sweep all the way to the mountains. The estate is beautifully adaptable, whether you’re planning an intimate celebration of 40 guests or a larger gathering that takes over the entire hotel.
Speaking of which: the castle offers 57 rooms, and exclusive-use weddings simply require booking them all – transforming the whole property into your private hideaway for the weekend. Your guests wake up to panoramic views, wander through the gardens, and gather at the pool between events; it feels like a house party set inside a castle.
The team here knows the property intimately, and it shows. They’re warm, intuitive, and quietly brilliant at guiding you through the details, whether you’re planning around balmy Mediterranean evenings or the occasional moody-weather moment (the castle handles every forecast beautifully).
Fridays and Saturdays book quickly, with no surprise, given Castell d’Empordà’s reputation as one of Spain’s most sought-after wedding settings. So if a weekend celebration is calling, early availability checks are essential.
Castell d’Empordà is a place where history, landscape and that unmistakable Catalan charm converge – a destination that feels both wildly romantic and wonderfully effortless from the moment you arrive.
Nearest Airports: Hotel Castell Empordà is located in an easily accessible location for your wedding guests travelling in from abroad – just 42 min (44.2 km) from Girona–Costa Brava Airport (GRO) and 1 hr 42 min (147 km) from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN).

Transportation
RENFE runs high-speed trains across the country and towns such as Madrid and Barcelona have their own Metro networks. Look for the green light if you want to hail a taxi in the street – Spanish taxis wont take more than four people at a time and they’re harder to find on Friday and Saturday nights. Most cities have plenty of buses with tickets available on board or at estancos (tobacconists).
Public Holidays
All the big religious holidays such as Easter and Christmas, as well as Three Kings Day/ Epiphany (6th January), Labour Day (1st May) and Hispanic Day (12th October). Many of the regions have their own local public holidays, such as Balearic Day in the Balearic Islands (1st March).
