we love...
Their venue name and philosophy were inspired by the Talking Heads song โThis Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)โ, which songwriter David Byrne describes as:
โA real honest kind of love songโฆ I tried to write one that wasnโt corny, that didnโt sound stupid or lame the way many do. I think I succeeded.โ
He did, and they intend to too.

what's so special about This Must Be The Place?
This Must Be The Place – A Catalan Farmhouse, Reimagined For Weddings
Set high in the rolling hills beyond Barcelona, This Must Be The Place feels less like a wedding venue and more like the sort of place friends tell each other about quietly, hoping it stays undiscovered for just a little longer.
An 18th century Catalan farmhouse reimagined by British owners Jo and Duncan, the venue blends the character of old stone walls, courtyards and barns with a distinctly modern, design conscious atmosphere. Their background in music festivals, events and film production runs subtly through the entire experience – not in a themed or theatrical way, but in how naturally the space flows, how intuitively the celebration unfolds and how effortlessly good the atmosphere feels from beginning to end.
The setting itself is extraordinary. Open landscapes roll out in every direction, sunsets linger endlessly across the hills and the entire venue feels immersed in its surroundings. Weddings here are built around movement and energy rather than tradition or structure. Guests drift between gardens, courtyards, cocktails, long dinners and dancing without ever feeling pushed from one moment into the next.
At the centre of the venue sits Els Graners – three vast interconnected barns arranged around the courtyard, El Barri. Double height ceilings, huge bi fold doors and a statement mirrorball give the space a feeling that sits somewhere between an impossibly chic dinner party and the best late night gathering youโve ever stumbled into. With the doors open, the boundaries between inside and outside almost disappear completely.
One of the things we love most about This Must Be The Place is that even the practicalities feel beautifully thought through. While many venues in this part of Spain rely on a separate contingency plan, the covered spaces here feel so atmospheric they become part of the main event itself. Nothing ever feels like second best.
Accommodation on site sleeps up to 12 guests across four rooms, creating a private retreat for the couple and their closest people while the wider guest list stays nearby. With exclusive use throughout, the venue becomes entirely your own for the weekend – relaxed, intimate and completely immersive.
Despite the secluded feel, access is refreshingly easy, with Girona Costa Brava Airport under an hour away and Barcelona International Airport just over an hour from the venue.
This Must Be The Place is for couples who want a wedding that feels less like a production and more like a beautifully curated experience. Stylish but never stiff. Atmospheric without trying too hard. The kind of celebration where dinner turns into dancing, guests lose track of time and nobody wants the weekend to end.
Nearest Airport: Conveniently located just over an hour from Barcelona Int Airport and 55 minutes away from the Girona’s ‘Costa Brava’ Airport.
