we love...

The on site restaurant uses fresh produce from their garden and only delicious local products, plus their wine and beer selection is purely local or Italian.

What's So special About Borgo Castello Panicaglia?

Nestled amongst the rolling green hills of Umbria, youโ€™ll find this stunning 13th Century estateย  Borgo Castello Panicaglia, set on a whopping 50 acres. Set 800m above sea level, this unique Italian destination wedding venue has a vegetable garden, fruit orchard, olive groves and an outdoor swimming pool and bar area.

Dutch owners Albert & Inger bought this recently restored ‘borgo’ and itโ€™s quite the ideal wedding venue.

Borgo Castello Panicaglia hasย 17ย rooms and suites (for 2 โ€“ 8 guests) and each room is decorated to perfection with a very clear eye for detail. Youโ€™ll find neutral warm colours and natural materials sat against modern eclectic furniture. Each indoor space has added ambiance and style from the old stone walls and floors. Some of the rooms can be connected, for any of your wedding guests staying on site who need additional space.

Osteria Panicaglia is the onsite restaurant located within the walls of Castello Panicaglia. Head Chef, Luca Bedini has been working at the venue since the owners arrived and knows the Umbrian cuisine like no other. He and the team grow their own vegetables and herbs on the grounds of Borgo Castello Panicaglia and use the produce to make delicious honey, chutneys, and vinegar โ€“ all on-site. Lucaโ€™s menus incorporate as much home-grown, seasonal produce as possible, as well as a selection of products from local farmers and businesses, which means your wedding cuisine will be a feast for your guests.

The restaurant has space indoors and also a covered terrace where you and your guests can look out over the beautiful landscape or, why not dine al fresco? During your stay, why not join a cooking class, limoncello workshop or have a wine tasting with your guests.

We’re dreaming of a Ceremony out on the lawn, with a beautiful view over the Umbrian mountains.

Nearest Aiport: Perugia (San Francesco d’Assisi Airport), just 40 minutes away.

Transportation

Italy has plenty of public transport, from the trains to the metro in cities like Milan. The roads (and Italian drivers) are notoriously terrifying for foreigners so itโ€™s often better to take a taxi than hire a car.

Public Holidays

Each town in Italy has it's own patron saint and shuts down to celebrate the saintโ€™s day each year (e.g. Rome is Sts. Peter and Paul, June 29th). Alongside Christmas and Easter, the other big religious festivals are Epiphany (6th January) and All Saints Day (1st November). All of Italy celebrates Labour Day (1st May) and also Liberation Day (April 25th).
