we love...

The on site restaurant uses fresh produce from their garden and only delicious local products, plus their wine and beer selection is purely local or Italian.

What's So special About Borgo Castello Panicaglia?

Nestled amongst the rolling green hills of Umbria, you’ll find this stunning 13th Century estate  Borgo Castello Panicaglia, set on a whopping 50 acres. Set 800m above sea level, this unique Italian destination wedding venue has a vegetable garden, fruit orchard, olive groves and an outdoor swimming pool and bar area.

Dutch owners Albert & Inger bought this recently restored ‘borgo’ and it’s quite the ideal wedding venue.

Borgo Castello Panicaglia has 17 rooms and suites (for 2 – 8 guests) and each room is decorated to perfection with a very clear eye for detail. You’ll find neutral warm colours and natural materials sat against modern eclectic furniture. Each indoor space has added ambiance and style from the old stone walls and floors. Some of the rooms can be connected, for any of your wedding guests staying on site who need additional space.

Osteria Panicaglia is the onsite restaurant located within the walls of Castello Panicaglia that uses fresh and authentic ingredients and has a Michelin-starred Italian chef which means your wedding cuisine will be a feast for your guests. The restaurant has space indoors and also a covered terrace where you and your guests can look out over the beautiful landscape or, why not dine al fresco? During your stay, your wedding guests staying either side of the actual day can also help out in the vegetable garden, join a cooking lesson or do a spot of wine tasting!

We’re dreaming of a Ceremony out on the lawn, with a beautiful view over the Umbrian mountains.

Transportation

Italy has plenty of public transport, from the trains to the metro in cities like Milan. The roads (and Italian drivers) are notoriously terrifying for foreigners so it’s often better to take a taxi than hire a car.

Public Holidays

Each town in Italy has it's own patron saint and shuts down to celebrate the saint’s day each year (e.g. Rome is Sts. Peter and Paul, June 29th). Alongside Christmas and Easter, the other big religious festivals are Epiphany (6th January) and All Saints Day (1st November). All of Italy celebrates Labour Day (1st May) and also Liberation Day (April 25th).

Good Time to Go

Late April - Mid October

good to know

The Umbria region is often referred to as the country's green heart, recognised for it's medieval hill towns, dense forests and local cuisine, particularly wine and foraged truffles.
