What's So Special About Castello di Petrata?

Castello di Petrata is a stunning 14th century, family run estate wedding venue in Italy, nestled amongst the vibrant green landscape of Umbria.

Located in a vast 50 acre park, with on site accommodation in the hotel for up to 55 guests (22 rooms) and the option to accommodate an additional 40 more wedding guests in the 20 glamping tents located on the grounds, this is the ideal location for a 2-3 day wedding affair. For additional guests there are two Agriturismo near the Castle that can accommodate another 70 of your guests. The in-house team can take care of the accommodation of all your guests should you wish. A delicious breakfast buffet, 24 hour reception, 24 hour bar and an excellent restaurant open for lunch and dinner will accompany your unforgettable wedding weekend/week at Castello di Petrata.

With a fabulous in house catering team at your disposal, who you will be required to use, but donโ€™t worry โ€“ you couldnโ€™t ask for anything more from this incredibly talented team, youโ€™ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to your wedding menu. All the vegetables and fruit come from their own on site orchard, the salami comes from their breeding pork and the bread and pasta are homemade every day. The delicious olive-oil is also produced in house on the estate and used to prepare their tasting dishes. The wedding menu usually starts with an appetizer/ starter buffet served in their beautiful terraced garden, continuing with two different types of pasta and a main course with a choice of side dish. It wouldnโ€™t be complete without a tempting dessert buffet and the wedding cake to complete the reception. In terms of the bar, youโ€™ll have a selection of prosecco for the aperitif, white and red wine from selected wine producers, coffee, and spirits.

Transportation

Italy has plenty of public transport, from the trains to the metro in cities like Milan. The roads (and Italian drivers) are notoriously terrifying for foreigners so itโ€™s often better to take a taxi than hire a car.

Public Holidays

Each town in Italy has it's own patron saint and shuts down to celebrate the saintโ€™s day each year (e.g. Rome is Sts. Peter and Paul, June 29th). Alongside Christmas and Easter, the other big religious festivals are Epiphany (6th January) and All Saints Day (1st November). All of Italy celebrates Labour Day (1st May) and also Liberation Day (April 25th).

What Couples Say

We hosted our wedding at Castello di Petrata in August 2020 (we’re extremely lucky, we know!). Words really cannot describe how perfect everything was throughout our stay, and all of our guests couldn’t stop talking about the fantastic time they had at the Castello.

The venue is absolutely gorgeous (traditional Italian chic, overlooking the most beautiful view of Assisi and the Umbrian valley), and being able to host our wedding (and a pizza party the day before) within the Castello’s beautiful grounds made it all feel like a dream.

What Couples Say

“Excellent in every way. The staff are wonderful and the location excellent. We can’t think of a better venue for a wedding and we will certainly return for holiday very soon. The food was delightful and the building itself very atmospheric”
