we love...

That every corner of San Pietro feels like a scene waiting to be captured – from sunlit courtyards to quiet forest paths, it’s a photographer’s dream. The estate’s team can curate every detail for you and your guests, keeping the planning seamless and the surprises only of the good kind.

What's so special about San Pietro sopra le Acque?

San Pietro Sopra le Aque | A Restored Monastery in the Hills of Umbria

Tucked into the rolling hills of Umbria, San Pietro Sopra le Aque is a 17th-century monastery reimagined as an exclusive-use retreat for modern celebrations. Peaceful, elegant, and steeped in history, it’s the kind of place where time slows and everything feels beautifully personal.

The estate is entirely yours for the weekend – courtyards, gardens, pool, and even a private chapel for those wanting a spiritual touch to their ceremony. Inside, 15 elegant rooms and suites (sleeping up to 41 guests) combine old-world charm with soft, contemporary style.

Days here move to an easy rhythm: morning swims, lazy lunches under the olive trees, a ceremony in the chapel, then dinner under the stars. The in-house kitchen crafts seasonal menus with local produce, while the spa, gym, padel courts, and forest paths offer a quiet balance to the celebrations.

A dedicated wedding concierge and events team take care of every detail – from your first visit to the final dance – so you can settle in, celebrate, and let the setting do the rest.

Intimate, timeless, and unmistakably Italian, San Pietro Sopra le Aque turns a wedding into something far more memorable: a shared escape in one of Umbria’s most enchanting corners.

Nearest Airports: San Francesco d’Assisi Airport (PEG) 43 min (52.9 km) and Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) 1 hr 39 min (151 km).

Transportation

Italy has plenty of public transport, from the trains to the metro in cities like Milan. The roads (and Italian drivers) are notoriously terrifying for foreigners so it’s often better to take a taxi than hire a car.

Public Holidays

Each town in Italy has it's own patron saint and shuts down to celebrate the saint’s day each year (e.g. Rome is Sts. Peter and Paul, June 29th). Alongside Christmas and Easter, the other big religious festivals are Epiphany (6th January) and All Saints Day (1st November). All of Italy celebrates Labour Day (1st May) and also Liberation Day (April 25th).

What Couples Say

“Our Dream Wedding It took us some time to write this review, because we wanted to make sure to properly put into words just how incredible our wedding at San Pietro Sopra le Acque was. From our initial meeting with Sara, we felt there was something special about this venue and our instincts were absolutely right. As a couple from the United States, we planned our wedding entirely remote, which at the start was a nerve wracking concept. However, Sara made the entire process so easy and seamless from start to finish. She was so communicative and thorough with all aspects of our three-day event, from connecting us with the best local vendors to making recommendations for our dinner selections when we were unable to visit in person for our tasting. From the moment we stepped foot on the property it was every bit as beautiful as we had dreamed. The venue not only blew us away with its beauty and location, overlooking incredible views of Umbria, but also with the amazing staff that made us and our guests feel right at home. Sara and the rest of the staff truly cared to make every day of our event so special and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. If you are a couple planning a destination wedding, we recommend San Pietro Sopra le Acque a million times over. Our wedding is something we will forever cherish and never forget. Thank you to Sara and the team at San Pietro Sopra le Acque for bringing our dream wedding to life!”

What Couples Say

“We chose San Pietro Sopra le Acque as the location for our wedding, and we couldn’t have imagined anything better. Everything was simply fantastic: every idea and expectation of ours was respected and enhanced, with constant support throughout the decision-making process. Living abroad, the help of Sara, our wedding manager, was fundamental from start to finish: always available, precise, and attentive to every detail. The venue is breathtaking, with a fairytale-like atmosphere and an incredible level of hospitality that made all our guests feel welcomed and cared for. It was everything we wished for our wedding… and even more.”
