The Best Wedding Venues in the Loire Valley for a Destination Wedding

The Loire Valley has no shortage of châteaux. The trick is finding one that works as beautifully for a wedding weekend as it looks in the photographs. Across this storied stretch of France, turrets, formal gardens, vineyard towns and very good wine make a persuasive setting for bringing everyone together for a few memorable days.

Our current edit begins in the valley’s western reaches, with two exclusive-use châteaux in Pays de la Loire.

Château de Challain is the unapologetic showstopper. Turrets, carved wood, glittering chandeliers and a private chapel bring plenty of theatre, while the manicured grounds create an equally impressive setting outdoors. Its 21 suites and bedrooms accommodate up to 50 guests, with celebrations for up to 120 and an experienced in-house team to handle the details.

Château de Jalesnes has a more relaxed, house-party rhythm. Built in 1610, the château combines 27 bedrooms sleeping 65 guests with a private chapel, swimming pool, formal gardens and a grand banquet hall. Receptions can host up to 180 indoors, and with exclusive use and no curfew, the weekend is free to unfold at its own pace.

Both venues offer the space to turn a wedding day into a proper stay: welcome drinks in the gardens, dinner beneath the trees and a slower final morning together before everyone heads home.
