we love...

The passion project of a former Lisbon lawyer, Pedro Franca Pinto purchased the land that has since become Craveiral back in 2010, when it was nothing more than an unloved field of carnations. With the strong desire to roll up his sleeves, get his hands dirty and give new life to something Craveiral Farmhouse was born. (Cravo is Portuguese for “carnation.”)

What's So Special About Craveiral Farmhouse?

In one of the most beautiful regions in Portugal, on the southern Alentejo coast, Craveiral Farmhouse is what we’d call the perfect combination destination wedding venue, nestled between nature in the rugged Portuguese countryside but also positioned right beside the ocean.

Spread out on the 9-hectare grounds, there are 38 ‘houses’ in the form of bright white cottages, laid out in an informal and friendly village-like setup all connected via a wooden walkway through a rough terrain sprouting beautiful wild flowers.

On site you’ll find a nature interpretation center, an orchard, farm animals and plenty of outdoor space to design your ceremony, reception drinks and evening party around the grounds. We’d suggest having your ceremony in their woodland area, surrounded by pine trees and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

It’s worth noting that the site has three swimming pools, one of them indoor and a beautiful on site spa. At the hub of the hotel you’ll find the farm-to-table concept restaurant by extraordinary Chef Alexandre Silva, a mix of Portuguese and contemporary cuisine, which of course extends to the catering for your event.

Craveiral can accommodate up to 126 guests on site across it’s 38 houses, which range from studios to two-bedroom abodes, each fully equipped with a kitchen and living space. The Farmhouse’s sustainable ethos is also evident through it’s design, each cottage furnished with natural materials sourced as locally as possible. As the soon-to-be married couple, you should definitely opt to stay in the romantic Owner´s House, WeWood, where you’ll find a pretty spectacular cork bathtub in the bedroom!

Craveiral is just over two hours from Lisbon and the nearest airport is Faro roughly 1hr 30 away (110 km) however, the resort is easily reachable by car. For travel by train, the Santa Clara station, Savoia, is just 20 minutes away.

The minimalist, down-to-earth design; the delicious farm to table food and it’s peaceful location all work together to make Craveiral Farmhouse a faultless venue for your destination wedding in Portugal.

don't miss...

The farm animals: Pygmy goats, Vietnamese cross-breed pigs, horses, donkeys and a variety of dogs and cats play a central part in the character of this farm stay.

good to know

Portugal is still somewhat of a hidden gem when it comes to the destination wedding market. Although locals still have a very traditional wedding style, the creatives working over there love to push the boundaries, so you can rest assured your Portuguese destination wedding will be like no other.
